The Chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Davies Ibiamo Ikanya has called on Rivers people to rise and vote out Governor Nyesom Wike in 2019. He stated this in while responding to a member of the party during the Interactive and Sensitization meeting with local government area and Ward executives of APC in Abonnema today.
The ward 17(Oceania) exco member had called on the Federal government to intervene in worsening security situation in the waterways of the Oceania Communities.
” the people of the oceania of the area are constantly under threats from Kidnappers and pirates” he said.
“When our former Governor Rt Hon Chibuike Amaechi was Governor he treated us well and we give kudos to him. But now Our women are being rapped, our boys are being killed. Please help us and tell the Federal government to come to our aid .”
Chief Ikanya praised the APC grassroots leaders for being consistent in their support for the APC and the leader of the party in the state and the South South region, Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. He said despite the challenges faced by the party exco none of them has defected.
He admonished the exco to be servant leaders and to maintain an open door to receive new and intending members.
“This is the time to sensitize ourselves and remind ourselves that it is our duty to defend the party always”.
“As party executives we are expected to be loyal to the party and be ready to do justice to all members of the party”
“There are several groups and NGOs in the party because the party is very big. Every group and member of exco is under the party leadership, hence they are expected to conduct themselves in line with party rules and regulations and not to fan the embers of acrimony in the party ”
Chief Ikanya officially received three new members into the party.
The new members are Mr Douglas Dodiyi-Manuel- the House of Representatives candidate of the Labour Party, Alabo Charles Dokubo a governorship aspirant of the PDP in 2019 and Go-Oba Roberts who was the governorship candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party.
The APC chairman said the party will be starting a nationwide members exercise beginning from Saturday 25th November to accommodate the huge number of people indicating interest to join the party.
The Chairman’s team also moved to Ikwerre LGA where they interacted with ward and local government executives.
