Pictures of Prince Igwedibia Johnson a.k.a Don Wanny, the slain gang-lord described by security agents a notorious cultist and mass murderer have reemerged and are breaking the internet.
The nightmarish memories of this troll whose name sent shivers down the spine of even the very bold appears to have been exhumed by some pictures of the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prince Uche Secondus, members of National Working Committee and Youth Leaders of Peoples Democratic Party Uche Secondus and the other PDP leaders decked in red berets tilted to the side.
Prompted by the controversies surrounding the life and death of the dreaded Don Wanny, especially the allegation that he enjoyed patronage from some members of the PDP in Rivers state, many Port Harcourt residents are finding it hard to believe that the choice of the PDP leaders to appear in the uniform of Don Wanny’s killer Red Squad is anything but cult affinity.
Ace journalist and publisher, Oby Ndukwe, writing on her Facebook wall , wondered whether the new uniform adopted by Uche Secondus was “in the spirit and likeness of Don Wanny, the late kidnap kingpin of Omoku in Rivers state”.
Another Facebook user Aladere Kenneth Tokunbo asked to know if the choice of the uniform for the PDP leadership in honour of Don Wanny .
The late Don Wanny whose loyalty and sympathy for the PDP in Rivers is not a big secret is suspected to have ordered for the gruesome murder of community leader and chieftain of the all Progressives Congress, Chief Christopher Adube, his three children, driver and family friend at Obirikom in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area of Rivers state. The savage killers whose intention was to wipe out the entire Adube family, were said to have celebrated their kill before leaving the compound.
One resident of Port Harcourt and native of Omoku who spoke to our correspondent and chose to be referred to as Jane said the recent apparels showcased by Uche Secondus’ and the leadership of the PDP is a sad reminder of the butchery which took place at the home of Franklin Obi the Ward 4 who was killed and his head cut off. The gunmen also killed his wife, Iheaoma Obi and his 18 year old son Bestman Obi at their Rutachi Street residence in Omouku, the headquarters of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area.
Another Facebook User, Alexander Aghedo holds a slightly different view on the new berets. Aghedo, writing on his Wall opines that the berets are inspired by South Africa’ Julius Malema and signals the adoption of a more militant modus operandi for Nigeria’s former ruling party. 2019 is definitely going to be interesting.
