SARS Operatives Behind Kidnapping And Armed Robberies In Rivers State-Gov Wike

The executive governor of Rivers state, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has accused operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police of being behind the flood of kidnapping and armed robberies that has enveloped the oil rich state in Nigeria.
Aiming directly and unambiguously, Governor Wike who addressed newsmen at the Rivers State Government House on Wednesday claimed that the Rivers State Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS) Commander, Mr Akin Fakorede, and his operatives are responsible for the for the series of kidnapping and deadly robbery across the state.
Governor Wike alleged that the SARS boss and his men were indicted indicted by an official police signal after the Inspector General of Police X Squad, Abuja, deployed in the state after the team busted the attempted kidnap of one Mr. Azumana Ifeanyi on September 11, 2017 at the GRA, Port Harcourt.
Mr Akin Fakorede and Nyesom Wike have not been best of friends since the Governor accused him of aiding the Rivers state chapter of the All Progressives Congress to rig the December 10 rerun parliamentary elections. In November 2016, the Rivers State House of Assembly passed a resolution calling on the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to immediately transfer the state Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Steven Hasso, and the Commander of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Akin Fakorede after some skirmishes were one operative SARS was said to have fired live bullets to disperse some pro PDP protesters.
The APC in Rivers State alleges that Wike’s disapproval of the SARS boss is because the officer has refused to play ball.
