Nigerian Soldiers Repel Terrorist Attack in Gwoza, Kill 15 Boko Haram Fighters Capture Military Equipment

Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman said Troops of 192 Task Force Battalion of 26 Task Force Brigade of Operation LAFIYA DOLE at about 8:35pm on Tuesday,  successfully repelled a Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) attack at their outpost from Yamteke axis of Gwoza Local Government, Borno State.

The Army Spokesperson in a press statement posted on his Facebook wall said the troops’ heavy fire power and act of bravery dealt a decisive blow on the Boko Haram terrorists who attempted to infiltrate the army outpost with improvised explosive vehicles and persons carrying improvised explosive devices.

He said, 15 Boko Haram fighters were neutralized by the Nigerian soldiers and several military hardware including one Panhard Vehicle Blinde Leger, large caches of various ammunitions, were captured from the fleeing terrorists. One Toyota Hilux pick up van mounted with Anti Aircraft and one Gun Truck were destroyed.

According to the statement, several other Boko Haram terrorists escaped with gunshot wounds.

Despite losing one soldier during the attack, Brigadier General Usman said the troops remain determined in their task of safeguarding communities and providing a conducive environment for humanitarian agencies to do their work.
