The governorship candidate of the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress and Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency NIMASA, Dr Dakuku Adol Peterside has criticized the treatment allegedly meted out to civil servants in the state by Governor Nyesom Wike.
Dr Dakuku in a message released to the media, said the state civil service, despite the strategic role they play in shaping government policy and delivery of services have been unfairly treated by Governor Wike.
“It is obvious that Governor Wike hates Civil servants with a passion. Governor Wike has absolute no regard for civil servants, especially Rivers State Civil servants”
He described the alleged hijacking of jobs jobs meant for civil servants for settlement of political hangers as Wickedness. “I don’t know any better form of wickedness than the one the Governor is exhibiting”, he said.
“No body has been paid pension in Rivers State from the year 2015 till date , he has neither employed new persons to the Service nor promoted the ones in the system; even something as basic as salary increment, no Rivers State Civil servant will say that his salary has been increased in the past two years under the watch of Governor Wike.”
The NIMASA boss decried the current state of the state secretariat adding that civil servants deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. “State Secretariat does not have light, the place stinks” he noted. “He (Governor Wike) rather prefers endless biometric exercise to punish Civil servants”. Dakuku expressed confidence that Rivers people will hold Governor Wike accountable some day.
