Business mogul and chieftain of All Progressives Congress in Rivers state, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs has reiterated the importance of technology, especially Information Communication Technology to the twenty first century.
Speaking during a digital skills acquisition program which was recently organized in Port Harcourt by the Dumo Lulu-Briggs Youth Foundation in partnership with Google, the Kalabari born lawyer and businessman said the large number of young persons that turned up to be trained has punctured the negative impressions that Rivers youths are lazy and laid back and has instead shown that they are ready to take positive advantage of any given opportunity.
Chief Lulu-Briggs pointed out that with the drive around the world to reduce dependence on oil, Information Communication Technology will assume the position of the oil of the 21st century. He said ICT goes beyond being a tool for social interactions.
“The world over is using ICT to make money. ICT is a business. ”
Dumo told the young technology enthusiasts that he had partnered with Google to equip them with the right tools to be able to succeed in the highly competitive ICT based 21st economy.
” you are going to be very active players”, he told them.
“we expect a revolution in Rivers state, we expect to be number one and am glad that we are so actively engaged ”
” I have set up a foundation to see how we can help our young more through scholarship. We don’t have to throw money at situations. We have to teach our people how to fish rather than give them fish and I know that all of you are eager to take on every opportunity that comes your way. ”
Impressed with the number and zeal of the participants, Chief Lulu-Briggs promised to organize much more bigger event in the next three months.
