Dr Dakuku Adol Peterside Quick Facts

1. Dr Dakuku Adol Peterside was born on December 31, 1970 to a middle class family of Senibo Adolphus Peterside.
2. He is a native of Biriye in Opobo Kingdom of Opobo/Nkoro local government area of Rivers state.
3. He got his secondary school education at from Okrika Grammer School, in the present day Okrika LGA of Rivers state.
4. He was admitted into the Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) in the present day Rivers state University (RSU) where he graduated with a B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Sciences and Technology with specialization in Haematology and Blood Transfusion.
5. While in RSUST, he was an outstanding student union leader and was elected National President of the National Union of Rivers State Students NURSS in 1992. As an active campus journalist, he became the editor of Kampuswatch, the flagship of RSUST campus journalism.
6. He returned to RSU and obtained a Master’s degree in Management. He now holds a PhD in Organizational Behavior with specialization in political strategy from the University of Port Harcourt.
7. His marriage to Elima, a lawyer, is blessed with three children Sobari, Belema and Miebi.
8. From 1999 to 2002 he was Special Assistant on Youths and Students Affairs to former Governor Peter Odili.
9. As chairman of Opobo/Nkoro LGA from 2002 to 2003, he was adjudged the best performing chairman by Governor Odili. During this time, he served concurrently on the board of the Centre for Black and African Arts and Culture.
10. He was Senior Special Assistant to Governor Peter Odili on Works from 2003 to 2005.
11. He was the Executive Director of Development and Leadership Institute DLI from 2005 to 2007.
12. From 2007 to 2011 he was appointed twice by Former Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi as Commissioner for Works where he delivered 1000km of roads in 3 years.
13. He was elected to represent Andoni-Opobo/Nkoro Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives from 2011 to 2015.
14. He became the flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress in the 2015 elections. With Hon Asita Honourable as his running mate, he campaigned vigorously with a development plan he titled “Road map to Prosperity”.
16. He is currently the DG of NIMASA.
17. In March 2017 he was inaugurated Chairman of the 13-man board of for the University of Port Harcourt Logistics and Transport Studies, CELTRAS.
18. He is the Chairman of the Empowerment Support Initiative.
19. In April 2017 he elected as the Chairman of the Association of African Maritime Administrations, AAMA, becoming the first Nigerian to be so elected.
20. Under Dakuku NIMASA was awarded as the Prestigious Public Organisation of the year 2016 Awards by Tell Magazine.
21. Peterside was also honoured with the prestigious award of excellence in public life as “Student-friendly” by UNIPORT Students Union Government in 2011.
