The people of Gokana local government area of Rivers state lavishly displayed their love for their son Senator Magnus Abe on Sunday as they rolled out unto the streets, blending people of different social strata into a sea of heads to welcome him home triumphantly after long legal battle .
The Court of Appeal on Tuesday gave ruling on the appeal Brought before it by Senator Abe in the case between himself and Olaka Wogu following the earlier decision given by the Election Tribunal. The Justice Pindiga led election tribunal had thrown out the petition of Abe which sort to quash the 2015 Senate election for the Rivers East Senatorial District for which he was the candidate of the All Progressives Congress. Dissatisfied with the judgement, Senator Abe brought the matter to Appeal Court where the learned Justices in their wisdom nullified the election and ordered a rerun in 60 days on the grounds that Olaka Wogu was not duly elected.
Many of the locals who danced and sang with an abandon said they are happy that the judiciary has given them the privilege to freely chose who to represent them in the Senate.
